DESCRIPTION:
This is part 1 of a 3 part interview with Mark Krikorian, the Executive Director of the Center for Immigration Studies, an independent, non-partisan, non-profit research organization founded in 1985. It is the nation's only think tank devoted exclusively to research and policy analysis of the economic, social, demographic, fiscal, and other impacts of immigration on the United States. In this three part interview Mr. Krikorian discusses the impact and consequences of massive immigration on American society. Topics include assimilation, multiculturalism, separatism, sovereignty, NAFTA, ethno-centric lobbyists, the Mexican government's assertiveness in domestic US immigration policy, the politics of immigration reform on Capitol Hill, the roles of the American political parties and their elected officials, amnesty of illegal aliens, immigration as social engineering, the effects of immigration driven population growth on the quality of life in America. This is the full length interview, an edited portion of which is included in the documentary film "The Promise of Home".

Biographical Sketch: Mark Krikorian
|

Mark Krikorian is Executive Director of the Center for Immigration Studies ( www.cis.org ), a non-profit, non-partisan research organization in Washington, D.C. which examines the impact of immigration on the United States. The Center is animated by a pro-immigrant, low-immigration vision which seeks fewer immigrants but a warmer welcome for those admitted.
Mr. Krikorian frequently testifies before Congress and has published articles in The Washington Post, The New York Times, and elsewhere, is a Contributor to National Review Online, and has appeared on 60 Minutes, Nightline, the NewsHour with Jim Lehrer, CNN, National Public Radio and on many other television and radio programs.
Mr. Krikorian holds a master's degree from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and a bachelor's degree from Georgetown University, and spent two years at Yerevan State University in then-Soviet Armenia. Before joining the Center in February 1995, he held a variety of editorial and writing positions.
